If your qualifications have not been mapped to the sector’s professional standards, you can submit them for the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
The RPL process can map your qualifications and experience against the current professional standard for your occupation pathway.
This may mean that, while you would still need to complete all of the practical assessments, theory exams and coursework for a given qualification, there could be scope to fast track through some areas of the learning material that you have already covered, providing a quicker route to obtaining the qualification.
We have a number of partners that may be able to help you with the RPL process as CIMSPA do not offer this directly. We do advise that there will be a cost associated with this which will be specific to each provider. We would recommend conducting your own research to ensure any partner meets your requirements.
Please be advised that there is no guarantee that this process will be compatible with all qualifications as the acceptance criteria for each training provider and awarding organisation will be at their discretion. You are also advised to ensure that the qualification you will receive as a result of the RPL process is one that meets the professional standards and will allow entry into your desired membership category.
To support the provider to review your portfolio of training, we ask that you complete the relevant professional standard mapping document which will support the provider to effectively review your evidence of qualifications and training. Guidance on how to do this can be found within the supplied documents.
Upon receiving confirmation that your qualifications and training align with the professional standards for your chosen occupation, you will be able to apply for your chosen CIMSPA professional status.
